At least in Atlanta, the Rose Breasted Grosbeak is a rare visitor that only passes through the area for a couple of weeks each year. I was lucky enough to snap a picture of this handsome bird this weekend.

I have this very same bird feeder and it is about 90% squirrel proof. I clicked on to this link because I wanted to see the bird. I live in Port Orange, FL (just south of Daytona Beach) Any chance of this bird showing up this far south? I had painted and indigo buntings to show up in March last year, but were in my backyard for only a week.
Hi Donna,
Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, that “squirrel proof” bird feeder has certainly brought out some creative acrobatics from squirrels. Sometimes I think they are just thrill seekers.
As far as the Grosbeak goes, they will travel far south for the winter – even down to Central and South America. Hopefully we will catch a few in this year’s migration.
